All The Fun Without The Hustle & Bustle

Reasons why Fall is a great time to visit the beach- No crowds

Another reason why Fall is a great time to visit the beach is that you basically get the beach to yourself! You do not have to worry about getting up at the crack of dawn to get the prime spot right at the water. You will get to enjoy the beautiful water and soft sand without worrying about the disruptions around you. Also, in Destin, a lot of our most popular restaurants stay open all year round.  Your family and friends will be able to enjoy fresh seafood from the Gulf without the wait.

If you have ever been to Destin in the Summer then you know traffic can be a major annoyance. Destin is not a large area but yet is so beautiful so who doesn’t want to visit when they have a chance? But in the Fall you do not have to worry about that as much either. You will be able to come and go as you please, instead of strategically planning your trips out and about.

Festivals!

Here in Destin, we have several festivals you can attend in the Fall. The Destin Seafood Festival and The Destin Fishing Rodeo are the most popular ones and are hosted in the month of October. We go into further detail about these two events in another blog and the link is posted below.

If you are someone who loves solving puzzles, then these local excursions are for you! Real-life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are technically locked in a room with other participants. They have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within 60 minutes.

Whether you’re traveling by yourself or with family or friends, the Escape Game is a must-stop destination. This unique game concept brings virtual code-cracking and adventure into the real world. If it were possible to pack even more fun into 60 minutes, they would have done it.  Can your group crack the code in time? It may not be as simple as you think. Gulf Coast Escape Room offers several varieties of escape rooms such as Zombie Autopsy, The Doll Room, VooDoo Cabin, Bates Motel, and Alice and the Rabbit.

Boating Safety Tips

Memorial day kicks off summer in style as we honor our veterans, celebrate America with our friends and family, and relax on the three day weekend. In Destin, it’s not surprising that many people’s weekend plans involve boating. With so many incredible places to cruise the shores, fish, snorkel, and just hang out, boating is the perfect way to spend the day on the Gulf Coast. If you are staying in a vacation rental in Destin and are renting a boat, here are a few safe boating tips to keep in mind. From everyone at Destin Palms, we hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day!

Check the weather and then check it again. In Florida, the weather can change at the drop of a hat. Stay weather wise and make sure you don’t get stuck out in a storm.

Use common sense. A day on the boat should be fun, but be smart. Don’t do anything to jeopardize your safety.

Wear life jackets. Every boat is equipped with life jackets, use them, especially if you have children.

Avoid alcohol. Treat your boat just like a car and have a designated driver. Even if you aren’t driving – don’t overdo it!
