Whether it’s a rainy day or you want to take a break from the Florida sun, there are still several things to do in Destin besides just going to the beach. Destin is known for its emerald green water and white sand but there is more to Destin than most people might realize. Here in Destin, we have a great selection in shopping.  Which is great to take advantage of for back to school shopping. We also have a large and well-airconditioned movie theatre right in the middle of the Destin Commons. Destin, FL is known as the “luckiest fishing village” so of course, we have awesome deep-sea fishing experiences. These are one of the most popular things to do in Destin. Things to Do This 4th of July!

The City of Destin will be hosting a Family Independence Day Celebration & Bike parade for children 14 & under.  The event will take place at the Destin Elementary School Track On Monday July 1st at 5:30pm, with registration beginning at 4:45pm.  The event is free to the public.  Come show off your decorated bike, scooter, or wagon.  Awards will be given for different categories in each age division. You can also head out to the Village of Baytowne Wharf for some family fun for Hydroflight Mondays! Enjoy shows at 6:30 & 8:30PM from fly-board extraordinaire Ben Merrell over the lagoon! Watch as he soars to the sky and makes waves at Baytowne Wharf.

Every Wednesday this Spring & Summer stop by the Baytowne Marina Bait Shop to receive your fishing rod. The family to catch the biggest fish, and provide a picture to the bait shop with they are done, will receive a prize!

Only 1 rod per family. Additional bait can be purchased at the bait shop. All fish are catch and release. Participants must bring your photo back by 1:30pm. Maps will be provided for available fishing rods.

Later on in the evening, come on out to the notorious Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival. This July 3rd brings the 9th Annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks event and Destin Commons recently announced the 18 area charities chosen to benefit from Coins for a Cause and event proceeds. Participating charities team up with various restaurants and BBQ aficionados to fire up their grills and cook for over $85,000 in donations.  Join Destin Commons in supporting the local area by plugging the meters at Destin Commons and attend SOTC, buy tickets and vote for your favorite nonprofit to support their mission.

AJ’s on the Bayou will also be joining in on the fun this week! Aj’s on the Bayou will have something for the whole family! July 4th Events 2019

And now, for the main course. Red White and Baytowne will be hosting their own fireworks display in the Village of Baytowne Wharf to celebrate Independence Day. Join us this 4th of July for our Red, White, and Baytowne celebration! Beginning at 6pm enjoy lawn games, inflatables, kids crafts, and face painting. Then enjoy LIVE music on the Events Plaza Stage at 7pm, followed by a fireworks display that will light up the night sky at 9:15pm.

Harborwalk Village will also be ringing in the holiday with a great fireworks display that you and the family will not want to miss!!

Celebrate Americana and the heritage of the Destin Harbor all summer long every Thursday night until August 16th. The all-American celebration includes a one-of-a-kind WWII Vintage Airshow, Live On-stage Entertainment, and FIREWORKS over the Destin Harbor, followed by ‘Just Add Fire’, a unique fire spinning performance.

Easter Crafts at the Destin Library. Friday from 1-4 PM, bring your children ages 4-12 and so they can get crafty and make an Easter magnet. Free and open to the public. Destin Library.

Destin Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The annual Easter Egg hunt for the whole town will be held at the Morgan Sports Center, 4200 Indian Bayou Trail, beginning at 9:00 AM. For ages 12 and under.

Baytowne Wharf Easter Explosion 2019

Bounce on over to the Village of Baytowne Wharf for an Easter Explosion this holiday weekend, Saturday, April 20th! Enjoy a day filled with family-friendly entertainment, enjoy lawn games, face-painting, and even race over the infamous inflatable obstacle course. And don’t forget to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny!

Experience a memorable Easter Egg hunt with The Henderson Beach Resort!
They will have a helicopter drop thousands of candy-filled Easter eggs on their Front Lawn! Join them before or after the hunt for Easter Brunch!
Don’t Forget to Bring your Easter baskets and make memories with The Henderson! Ever wonder how all those eggs get to be hidden for the hunt? Well, come see the helicopter Easter Egg drop candy-filled eggs on the front lawn of the Henderson. The drop will be at 12:30 PM so be sure to get there early to get a good spot to watch!

Head over to Lulu’s at the base of the mid-bay bridge to enjoy the mad Dash for the golden eggs for LuLu’s Easter Egg Dash. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance for photo-‘hops’. Festivities start at 2 PM, but we recommend going early to get the best spot! The dash is divided into age categories, making this event is fun for the whole family!
